DGCPD Youth Bureau

The following is a list of programs and presentations offered to the community
through the Garden City Police Department Youth Bureau.


 

1) School Conferences: The youth officer will meet with any student referred for a violation of school policy. The student must be accompanied by a parent.

2) Youth Conferences: The youth officer will meet with any parent or youth with his or her parent wishing to discuss any problem within the community, or as a follow-up to an investigation.

3) Project Kidcare: A program offered to the community to educate families about child safety, and encourage parents to complete provided personal safety documents and keep them with current photographs of their child.

4) Fingerprints:
A program for all parents within the community who wish to have fingerprints of their child for identification purposes. Under this program, all copies of fingerprints are given to the parents and none are retained by the police department.

5) Alcohol Awareness: A presentation given to 8th grade students dealing with alcohol related problems both in and out of the home.

6) Drugs and You: A presentation given to 7th grade students dealing with the problems and dangers of drug use and abuse.

7) Project Pride: Project Pride is an awareness course given in the schools to all 5th grade students by the Youth Officer over a five week period introducing them to the dangers associated with drug and alcohol use and abuse.

8) Stranger Awareness: A presentation for all elementary school students providing tips on how to deal with strangers.

9) Gun Safety: A presentation for all students dealing with gun safety.

10) Bus Safety: A presentation for elementary school students dealing with school bus safety.

11) Bicycle Safety: A presentation for elementary school students providing bicycle safety tips and familiarizing them with the law requiring helmets.
