The Garden City Police Department's Tactical Unit is comprised of 8 Police Officers and 1 Sergeant.

It is this Department's belief that a policy of constant and consistent traffic enforcement is directly responsible for deterring criminal activity within the Village boundaries. The Department's Tactical Unit is responsible for the majority of the Department's traffic enforcement efforts. To that end, in addition to routine traffic enforcement, the Tactical Unit regularly conducts truck inspections, aggressive driving operations and seat belt checkpoints throughout the Village. In 2005 our traffic enforcement efforts resulted in 12,785 traffic citations being issued and more than 250 arrests being made.
